Purpose: The purpose of this scheme is to support the improved amenity in Nelson Town Centre, with improved pedestrian and cycle access and linkage across Nelson. All the proposals will work together to create a safer environment for pedestrians, cyclists, and vulnerable users. It is hoped this will give confidence to encourage more users to consider commuting via non-motorised means and this will improve health and air quality for the residents of Nelson. The proposal includes Limited waiting restrictions to provide loading and parking opportunities for local businesses and will help prevent vehicles from being parked for extended periods in a high demand area. The reduction in the lengths of Limited Waiting restrictions in the area are proposed to facilitate the movement of larger vehicles along Scotland Road and allow free movement of vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. No Waiting at Any Time to prevent obstructive parking, maintain clear visibility at junctions and ensure safe and efficient movement of vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. Consultations Formal consultation was carried out between 10 October-2025 until 07 November-2025 which included advertising in the local press and notices being displayed on site. Divisional county councillors were consulted along with the council's usual consultees and the consultation documents posted on the council's website. Following formal consultation No Objections were received.
