Purpose: To consider the proposed felling of 1no Ash tree at Brown Street, Trowbridge and the consultation undertaken in accordance with S115 of the Environment Act 2021 and 96A of the Highways Act 1980 and to recommend an appropriate way forward.   It is a requirement of S115 of the Environment Act 2021 that a report outlining the decision made following consultation is prepared and published, with a minimum of 28 days between the publication of the decision and any tree felling taking place.

Content: To consider the proposed felling of 1no Ash tree at Brown Street, Trowbridge and the consultation undertaken in accordance with S115 of the Environment Act 2021 and 96A of the Highways Act 1980 and to recommend an appropriate way forward.   It is a requirement of S115 of the Environment Act 2021 that a report outlining the decision made following consultation is prepared and published, with a minimum of 28 days between the publication of the decision and any tree felling taking place. INTENTION TO MAKE DECISION   Following consultation with officers I give notice that I intend to make the decision set out in the attached report. If you would like to make any representations to me on this issue please do so by 24 December 2025. It is proposed to proceed as advertised with the felling of the Ash tree on Brown Street to facilitate the infrastructure changes relating to the Longfield Gyratory improvements and ensure there are no future safety issues as a result of the declining health of this tree.    To:   Fell the Ash tree as advertised.   Abandon the proposal.   The intention to remove the Ash on Brown Street, adjacent to the junction with County Way, was subject to formal consultation between the 23rd October 2025 and the 21st November 2025. The street tree consultation notice was affixed to the tree outlining the intention to fell. This notice can be seen in Appendix 1.   No responses to this consultation have been received.
