Purpose:
Content: The Committee considered the Committee’s work programme for 2025-26 (circulated previously). The Committee discussed the following: · Business rates event that would be held with businesses in February 2026. The event would provide further information regarding support available and business rates changes. Councillors were requested to encourage businesses to attend this event. · Businesses were also encouraged to contact North Devon+ for support and advice. · Budget workshop would be held early in January 2026, which would include a section on business rates and all Councillors were encouraged to attend. · That further information on Business Rates and the role of the Valuation Office be provided to Councillors to share with Parish/Town Councils. · A briefing would be arranged for all Councillors and staff in the new year regarding Local Government Reorganisation and consideration would need to be given to resourcing and corporate priorities. · Following the publication of Local Government Association Peer Review report, the report would be circulated to all Councillors and the actions would then be programmed into the committee’s timetable. RESOLVED that the Trade Waste Service Review be included on the work programme for the meeting on 5 January 2026.
