Purpose:

Content: The Committee considered a report by the Sustainability and Climate Officer (circulated previously) regarding the costs and benefits of solar pv on selected North Devon Council properties.   In response to questions from the Committee, the Sustainability and Climate Officer advised the following:   ·         The energy surveys for Council buildings were undertaken between 2021 to 2023.  The payback period was now approximately 5- 6 years. The survey detailed measures for the Council to undertake including routine maintenance.  The Council had identified funds for energy efficiency and had replaced non efficient lighting with LEDs. ·         The replacement of the oil boiler at Brynsworthy Environment Centre with the installation of Air Source Heat pumps was subject to a grant application. ·         The installation of a solar array at Brynsworthy Environment Centre was the next step. ·         Routine maintenance for Green Lanes shopping centre was undertaken by the management company.   RESOLVED that:   (a)  The report and that individual capital business cases (PAG) to fund the outlined projects are brought back for consideration once associated costs and benefits have been finalised be noted; (b)  The solar array at Brynsworthy Environment Centre be prioritised as the next solar energy project to come forwards for consideration, installation to be completed by March 2027.
