Purpose:
Content: 10.1 The Head of Lifelong Learning and Skills introduced the report which presented the 2025/26 Quarter 2 performance update to committee for the Outcome and Committee level measures agreed in the Children’s Performance framework. A presentation was also given which included information on headline performance for KS4 English and Maths, key gaps in performance, narrative and strategic interpretation, family hub registration, decrease in FEL take up, decline in care experienced young people and EET participation trends. 10.2 RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY: That the Education, Children and Families Policy Committee:- (a) Notes the Performance report update for 2025/26 Quarter 2; and (b) Agrees to help shape what performance measures make up future reporting. 10.3 Reasons for Decision 10.3.1 The Education, Children and Families Committee has delegated authority to monitor the performance of its services to ensure that: · The service is delivering for the people of Sheffield · Limited resources are maximised due to budgetary pressures · The Council is delivering on corporate priorities 10.4 Alternatives Considered and Rejected 10.4.1 Previous decisions made requires officers to proceed with implementing the full performance framework to underpin how we measure progress and monitor impact of the Council Plan. It is aligned to our four-year Medium Term Financial Strategy, and the outcomes will increasingly become enabling elements for our priority-based budget plans, Directorate and Service going forwards and set a key deliverable for the Council. 10.4.2 Beyond some nuance of how we implement some details of the framework, the measures, performance system and reporting cycles are agreed, removing the alternative options available for continued implementation of the framework at Committee level as outlined in the Performance Framework
