Purpose:
Content: Consideration was given to a report regarding the delivery of Phase One of the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) programme. RESOLVED – That, having considered a report in the absence of the press and public pursuant to Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended), Cabinet approved: i) That the Council enter into a tripartite contract with the supplier and North East Combined Authority (NECA) for the delivery of LEVI Phase One. ii) That the financial and operational implications for Gateshead Council be noted. iii) That approval be given for electric vehicle chargers to be installed on Council property and land. iv) That authority be delegated to the Interim Service Director for Climate Change, Compliance, Planning & Transport, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, to investigate and, where appropriate, install electric vehicle charge points at locations not specifically identified in Phase One. The above decision was made for the following reason: a) To enable NECA to appoint the chosen supplier and commence installation of electric vehicle infrastructure in Gateshead; to permit use of Council property for EV chargers; and to allow flexibility in the location of charge points in response to emerging needs.
