Purpose:

Content: Councillor M Hall excused themselves from the meeting for consideration of this item following a declaration of interest.   Proposal to Declare Derwent Park Bowling Green and Pavilion and Clara Vale Recreation Ground Surplus to Council Requirements and to Grant Community Asset Transfer Leases Consideration was given to the proposal to declare Derwent Park Bowling Green and Pavilion, and Clara Vale Recreation Ground Cricket Field, Football Pitch, Pavilion and Store, surplus to Council requirements, and to grant 35-year leases under the Community Asset Transfer policy. The purpose was to rationalise assets, support community-led regeneration, and empower local organisations to manage these facilities.   RESOLVED: i)                 Cabinet approved the recommendations set out in Appendices 1-2 of the report.   The above decision was made for the following reasons: a)             To manage resources and rationalise the Council’s assets in line with the Corporate Asset Strategy and Management Plan. b)             To further develop partnerships and asset transfer arrangements in line with Gateshead Playing Pitch Strategy.
