Purpose: Following the construction of the A606 North and East Melton Mowbray Distributor Road (NEMMDR) and the subsequent declassification of Nottingham Road, Saxby Road, Thorpe End, Sherrard Street, Leicester Street, Burton Street and Burton Road, Melton Mowbray from ‘A’ and ‘B’ Class roads, the existing 7.5 ton Weight Restriction was to be extended to improve road safety and public amenity and to reduce the number of HGV’s travelling through Melton town centre.
