Content: Approval to award contract for adaptations with a cost of £76,250.00 - ref. DFG 2477 Delegated Decision Ref: 25/39/H To provide a total grant of £60,000 for adaptation works to a private property ref. - DFG 2477 and to register a local land charge against the property. The Private Sector Housing grants team received a referral on 25th January 2025 from the Occupational Therapy team at Nottinghamshire County Council requesting a disabled adaptation ref. DFG 2477. The referral requested an extension with bedroom and bathroom/wet room. As requested by the applicant, three local builders were chosen to quote for the adaptation. All of the builders chosen had previous experience with disabled adaptations. For a Disabled Facilities Grant, the maximum amount of grant available is £30,000. The Council can provide a discretionary top-up of up to £20,000 where the cost of works exceeds £30,000 (including any ancillary charges such as architect costs). A further discretionary payment of £10,000 will be made in this instance. The Council will also cover the costs of any genuinely unforeseen/extra works post approval. The additional shortfall of £16,250.00 will be provided by Nottinghamshire County council. As agreed with the owner, a local land charge will be registered against the property in accordance with the standard grant conditions. This would secure repayment of £10,000 should the property be sold within 10 years. No interest nor inflation increase would apply. Substantial time has been spent working with the client and occupational therapist to identify alternative access to bathing facilities and other adaptations to lower costs. Unfortunately, this is not reasonable or practicable. To only approve works costing up to £50,000.00 but this would mean that all of the works needed, would not be able to be carried out.
