Purpose: Consideration is given to the use of dedicated funding to increase capacity within the ASDAT service, specifically in order to reduce waiting times for autism assessments for children who are in key transitions.  

Content: Consideration is given to the use of dedicated funding to increase capacity within the ASDAT service, specifically in order to reduce waiting times for autism assessments for children who are in key transitions.   RESOLVED that Cabinet approves the allocation of £500,000, currently held in corporate reserves, to build additional capacity within the Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessment Team (ASDAT) team and to insource a provider within Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (BHNFT). The council is procuring a service which will be managed by BFNFT to undertake assessments of a targeted cohort of children and young people.
