Purpose:

Content: Cllr M Gannon withdrew from the meeting for consideration of this item. Cllr G Haley took over as Chair.   Consideration was given to a report, presented in the absence of the press and public, on proposed arrangements relating to the Council’s shareholding in Newcastle International Airport.   RESOLVED – That, having considered a report in the absence of the press and public pursuant to Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended), Cabinet: i)                 That authority be delegated to the Leader of the Council to provide, on behalf of the Council, the necessary shareholder consent in connection with proposed changes to the ownership structure of the Airport’s private sector partner.   The above decision was made for the following reason: a)             To support the continued development of Newcastle International Airport and its contribution to regional connectivity and economic growth.
