Purpose: To establish a joint South and Vale Climate and Nature Advisory Committee, in replace of current, separate Vale Climate Emergency Advisory Committee and South Climate and Ecological Emergencies Advisory Committee.

Content: RECOMMENDED to Council on 12 February 2026 to:   (a)  Agree to establish a joint Climate and Nature Advisory Committee with Vale of White Horse District Council, with the terms of reference and administrative arrangements as set out in this report, and in doing so, abolish the existing Climate and Ecological Emergencies Advisory Committee. (b)  Appoint the committee for the 2026/27 year, allocates seats to each political group and appoints councillors and substitutes to sit on it in accordance with paragraphs 10-16 of this report, (c)  Appoint co-chairs as set out in paragraph 13, (d)  Authorise the head of legal and democratic to amend the existing procedure rules, as set out in Appendix A in this report into the council’s constitution and to make any consequential changes to the constitution to reflect the decision of Council, (e)  Authorise the head of legal and democratic to call an independent renumeration panel for an allowance to be established for the co-chair role.
