Purpose:

Content: Before the Committee was a report by the Service Director for Operations and Environment, copies of which had been circulated to all Members and a copy of which is attached to the signed copy of these minutes as Item 9.   The Government set out changes to domestic and non-domestic waste collections under the Simpler Recycling scheme in line with the Environment Act 2021.   The report built on reports previously presented to this Committee in February 2024 and July 2024 and provided an update on progress made towards implementing the requirements under Simpler Recycling, which notably include weekly domestic food waste collections.     Decision:   1.     That the progress with the implementation of the requirements under Simpler Recycling be noted, particularly planning for the implementation of food waste collections   2.     That the unavoidable delay with the implementation of food waste collections as a result of the late notice of government funding and the extended delivery time for new vehicles be noted.     Call In: The call-in deadline for decisions will be 5.00pm on 17 February 2026.
