Purpose:

Content: 33.1 The Committee considered a report of the Community Services Manager on the funding allocated to the South West Local Area Committee and the proposals for its allocation and expenditure for 2025/26 in line with the priorities of the South West Local Area Committee.     33.2 RESOLVED: That the South West Local Area Committee:   a)    approves allocating the remaining unallocated funding (£12,322) as follows:   (i)    £10,000 to be allocated to Ward Funds (£2,500 per ward) to be spent on local ward-based projects aligned to the Community Plan priorities;   (ii)   £750.00 to be allocated to the Suncream for Parks Project;   (iii) £217.50 to be allocated to costs related to the People Keeping Well Network Revamp event;   (iv) £298.00 to be allocated to costs related to the South West Local Area Committee Health and Welbeing Drop-In Event;   (v)   £1056.50 to be allocated as a contingency to cover any additional costs that may arise before year end; and   b)    notes the expenditure since the last meeting in December (section 1.2.2) against the £100,000 budget to address local priorities in the South West Community Plan in 2025/26, as detailed in the report.     33.3 Reasons for Decision     33.3.1 Spending decisions made by the Community Services Manager under the authority delegated by the Local Area Committee in September 2021 are required to be reported to the next Local Area Committee meeting so that the Local Area Committee can monitor its delegated budget and delivery of the Community Plan.     33.3.2 The further expenditure and proposed use of funding under delegated authority outlined in the report addresses local priorities within the Community Plan.     33.4 Alternatives Considered and Rejected     33.4.1 Decisions on all expenditure could be reserved to the Local Area Committee but this would inevitably delay delivery of priority actions to address specific issues identified in the Community Plan.     33.4.2 All decisions on expenditure to support Community Plan priorities could be delegated to officers. However, this would restrict and undermine the Local Area Committee’s ability to monitor its delegated budget and delivery of the Community Plan.
