Content: The Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Voluntary Sector will consider the recommendations made after consulting on introducing a charge to cover the administrative cost of arranging care for self-funders who request assistance and residents for whom the Council acts as Appointee for State Benefit.   Summary of Decision: The Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Voluntary Sector has approved the introduction of a£35.28 flat weekly fee for selffunders to cover the Council’s costs associated with arranging the self-funders nonresidential care and support needs. The Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Voluntary Sector has also approved the introduction of an annual fee for acting as Appointee for State Benefits. If a person has between £3,000 and £20,500, they will pay 3.5% of the value of their assets. If they have more than £20,500, they will pay £824 per year. No charge will be made if someone has less than £3,000.   Reasons for Decision: Councils can charge for the administrative costs of providing an arrangement service for self-funders who ask the Council to arrange their care at home, and the Council can charge for the administrative costs when acting as an Appointee for State Benefits. Introducing these charges would represent a fair means of meeting the administrative costs incurred by the Council for making these are arrangements, and safeguard investment in wider adult social care services for the future.
