Purpose:

Content: The Committee received the minutes from the meeting of the Environment Committee held on 29 January 2026.   The Chair drew Members’ attention to a recommendation at Minute 525 [New Performance Indicator for Street Cleansing]    The Chair invited a proposer and seconder. Councillor Greenway seconded the recommendation, and this was seconded by Councillor Lury.   The Chair invited debate. The recommendation was welcomed andthanks was extended to Councillor Greenway for bringing the matter forward and for his persistence in pursuing the issue, which had contributed to the introduction of this new KPI.   The Chair as seconder, confirmed that he fully supported the introduction of this new KPI as affected every single resident in the district and he extended his thanks to Councillor Greenway.   Councillor Greenway, as proposer, stated that whilst he appreciated members’ thanks, he emphasised that credit needed to be directed to officers, noting that although the cleansing team had received persistent challenge from them on this issue, the team had produced very strong work in developing the KPI. Councillor Grenway asked for his thanks to be passed on to the team, particularly by the Group Head of Environment & Climate Change.   In debating the recommendation, The committee   RESOLVED   That a new KPI relating to street cleansing as set out in the report, is adopted for inclusion within the council’s Corporate Plan performance measures from April 2026.
