Is Key Decision?: No

Is Callable In?: No

Purpose: To approve the funding from Office of Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) Stroud District Council.

Content: The Community Development Manager introduced the report and highlighted the following points: Grant funding was received from the Office of Police and Crime Commissioner to support two key projects: reducing Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) and improving in-neighbour environments. £15k of funding had been allocated to reducing graffiti along the Stroud to Stonehouse corridor through community partnership during January-March 2026. Monitoring of the recurrence rates would be undertaken, and signs would be treated with anti-graffiti paint. There would also be increased patrols from Community Officers and PCSO’s. The Sport for Safer Streets Project received funding of £7.8k to increase youth activities. This included structured activities and education workshops to target knife crime and violence against women and girls to divert young people away from negative influences and early interventions.   The following responses were provided to Members’ questions: Officers had received data from the Police to highlight high areas for ASB to inform delivery activities through partnership working for the Sport for Safer Streets project. The Community and Engagement Officer would be working with Family Action which was Gloucestershire County Councils commissioned youth work contractor. Partnership working would be key to deliver the projects, the Community and Engagement Officer would be working with organisations to identify what services were being delivered to avoid duplication. The £7.8k funding would allow evidence to be built to present for future funding opportunities. The graffiti project covered any access of the Stroud to Stonehouse corridor which included the canal. Community Officers had been mapping graffiti spots on their patrols.   Proposed by Councillor Thomas, seconded by Councillor Edmunds.   Councillor Edmunds commented on the great work being undertaken to engage with communities and work with young people.   Councillor Thomas advised she had been involved with the project which would make a tangible difference.   On being put to the vote, the Motion was carried unanimously.   RESOLVED To: a)    Approve acceptance of the funding from the Office of Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Sport for Safer Streets and Graffiti Removal projects. b)    Delegate Authority to Strategic Director of Communities in consultation with the Chair & Vice Chair of Community Services and Licensing Committee to approve the terms of and enter into grant agreement with the OPCC. c)    Delegate Authority to Strategic Director of Communities in consultation with the Chair & Vice Chair of Community Services and Licensing Committee to allocate funding, and approve and enter into any necessary agreements to facilitate use of the grant.
