Purpose:

Content: Consideration was given to the report which sought approval to submit a Stage 1 application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for the Tyne Derwent Way project, aimed at securing funding to repair, conserve and enhance key heritage assets, including Dunston Staiths, improve access to the riverside, and deliver an engagement programme connecting communities to local heritage and the natural environment.   RESOLVED: i)                 Cabinet approved the submission of a Stage 1 application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for the Tyne Derwent Way project. ii)                Cabinet delegated authority to the Strategic Director of Economy, Innovation and Growth to finalise the content of and submit the Stage 1 application. iii)              Cabinet delegated authority to the Strategic Director of Economy, Innovation and Growth, in consultation with the Strategic Director, Resources and Digital, to accept any Stage 1 grant if the application is successful.   The above decision was made for the following reasons: a)                 To ensure that the Council has funding to deliver its priorities as identified in the Corporate Plan and the Council’s Capital Programme.
