Purpose:

Content: Consideration was given to the report which sought approval to submit a Business Case to the North East Combined Authority for funding of up to £24 million to support infrastructure delivery at Gateshead Quays, forming part of the Mayoral Development Zone, and enabling the regeneration of the area through site preparation, public realm improvements and infrastructure works.   RESOLVED: i)                 Cabinet approved the submission of a Business Case to the North East Combined Authority for up to £24 million for Gateshead Quays Infrastructure Delivery. ii)                Cabinet delegated authority to the Strategic Director of Economy, Innovation and Growth, in consultation with the Strategic Director, Resources and Digital, and the Chief Legal Officer, to accept any resulting grant and agree associated funding conditions.   The above decision was made for the following reasons: a)                 To bring forward the regeneration of Gateshead Quays. b)                 To reaffirm the Council’s commitment to investing in the local economy to provide sustainable opportunities for employment, innovation and growth.
