Purpose:

Content: Consideration was given to the report which provided an update and sought approval of a new Domestic Abuse Housing Policy for the Council housing sector, developed in line with the Policy Development Framework to ensure compliance with the Regulator for Social Housing’s Consumer Standards and to set out the Council’s approach to tackling domestic abuse, supporting victims and survivors, and holding perpetrators to account.   RESOLVED: i)                 Cabinet noted that the policy had been shared with Corporate Management Team, HEHC Portfolio, Domestic Abuse Partnership Board, Women and Girls Committee and the Director of Public Health. ii)                Cabinet approved the Domestic Abuse Policy. iii)              Cabinet noted that, following approval of the policy, staff training will be required to ensure employees are equipped with the skills and knowledge to apply the policy appropriately, with these actions identified within the Domestic Abuse Partnership Board’s action plan and the service plan for 2026/27.   The above decision was made for the following reasons: a)                 To ensure that the Council is fully compliant with the Regulator for Social Housing’s Consumer Standards. b)                 To ensure that appropriate housing?related responses are provided to victims and survivors of domestic abuse and their families.
