Purpose:
Content: Consideration was given to the report which sought approval to redesignate Hill Top Maintained Special School from providing for pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties and Autism to Autism only, in response to increasing demand for specialist autism provision, to strengthen the Council’s in?borough offer and ensure effective use of specialist education resources. RESOLVED: i) Cabinet approved the redesignation of Hill Top Maintained Special School from Moderate Learning Difficulties and Autism to Autism only. ii) Cabinet approved the reduction of sixth form places at the school from seventeen to eight. iii) Cabinet authorised officers to proceed with site development to ensure the school can fully meet the needs of children with autism. The above decision was made for the following reasons: a) To enhance the in?borough offer for children with autism requiring access to specialist secondary provision. b) To maximise the efficient use of the high needs block for young people with the most complex needs. c) To ensure that the provision at Hill Top is comparable with other specialist settings within the borough.
