Purpose: The report will ask Cabinet to agree to the adoption of the Walking, Wheeling & Cycling Strategy (2026 – 2035) following public consultation, with any final minor amendments to the Strategy delegated to the Executive Director, in consultation with the Cabinet Member. In addition, Cabinet is asked to agree the financial allocation of £1.8m from Merton’s Capital Programme for a 3-year period (2026/27 – 2028/29) to deliver the key actions deriving from the Strategy.
Content: RESOLVED: Cabinet is asked to: A. Agree to adopt the Walking, Wheeling & Cycling Strategy (2026 – 2035). B. Delegate authority to the Executive Director for Environment, Civic Pride & Climate in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Transport and Cleaner Streets to make minor amendments to the Walking, Wheeling & Cycling Strategy (2026 – 2035) prior to publication. C. Note the £1.8m contained within Merton’s approved Capital Programme to contribute towards the delivery of key actions deriving from the Walking, Wheeling & Cycling Strategy.
