Purpose:

Content: The Director of Community Services submitted a report seeking Committee approval to set the charge for the Salthill staff car park at £50 per annum.   Following Committee approval in August 2025, the parking order had now been through the necessary consultation and was in place. Salthill Depot car park was now designated as a car park, and permits could be issued to council staff as well as a parking fine for non-permitted cars.   The rationale for the suggested annual charge of £50 was included for Member’s consideration. Members spoke for and against the introduction of the annual charge and concerns were raised regarding the impact on affected staff and the lack of safe alternative routes of travel to the depot. Committee therefore requested that the arrangement be reviewed in 3 months-time, and that staff be consulted.   RESOLVED THAT COMMITTEE:   1.     Authorised the Director of Community Services to put in place a staff car parking scheme for the recently designated car park at Salthill Depot based on an annual charge of £50.   2.     Requested a review of the arrangement, in consultation with the affected staff, after a period of three months.
