Purpose:

Content: The Director of Community Services submitted a report to present the recommendations of the working group in relation to the allocation of grants under Recreation and Culture, Individual Sporting Excellence and Individual Arts Excellence awards.   The Working Group had met on 25 February 2026 to measure applications received against the qualification criteria for each award. The report noted that the working group were impressed with the quality of many of the applications and the difficulty of allocating limited resource to many deserving applicants. The recommendations resulted in an underspend on the Recreation and Culture grants budget, therefore Committee supported the working group recommendation that £2330 was used to fund a proposed overspend on the Sporting Excellence awards. Committee approved  grants totalling £37,439.50 across the three grant schemes.     RESOLVED THAT COMMITTEE:   1.     Endorsed the recommendations of the working group outlined in appendices 1 – 3 as attached to the report.   2.     Delegated authority to the Chairman of Community Services Committee and Director of Community Services to make awards based on the grant panel recommendations for the remaining budget available for Recreation and Culture Grants.   3.     Approved the use of £2330 of the remaining Recreation and Culture budget to fund the difference in the available budget and awards made for the Sporting Excellence grants.
