Purpose: The Executive Mayor of Croydon’s Business Plan prioritises making Croydon a safer, and healthier place, and action to reduce carbon emissions in Croydon.  This includes supporting the transition to electric vehicles.  An Electric Vehicle Strategy for Croydon will encourage the transition from petrol and diesel vehicles to electric vehicles as part of a sustainable, integrated transport system.     The proposed strategy will establish a framework for future infrastructure installation to address local needs.

Content: The Executive Mayor of Croydon’s Business Plan prioritises making Croydon a safer, and healthier place, and action to reduce carbon emissions in Croydon.  This includes supporting the transition to electric vehicles.  An Electric Vehicle Strategy for Croydon will encourage the transition from petrol and diesel vehicles to electric vehicles as part of a sustainable, integrated transport system.     The proposed strategy will establish a framework for future infrastructure installation to address local needs. For the reasons set out in the report and its appendices, the Executive Mayor and Cabinet RESOLVED to:   2.1.1   Agree to commence a public consultation on the draft Electric Vehicle Charging Point strategy (Appendix A) during Spring-Summer 2026; and   2.1.2   Delegate authority to the Corporate Director of Sustainable Communities, Regeneration & Economic Recovery (in consultation with the Executive Mayor and the Cabinet Member for Streets and Environment), to consider the outcome of the consultation, have due regard to the relevant equalities and other implications and thereafter update and  approve the Croydon’s Electric Vehicle Charging Point Strategy in late 2026 for publication and implementation.
