Purpose: Stratford-on-Avon District Council’s formal response to proposals for local government reorganisation in Warwickshire.

Content: Stratford-on-Avon District Council’s formal response to proposals for local government reorganisation in Warwickshire. That the proposed consultation responses to in relation to proposals for local government reorganisation in Warwickshire are agreed, as follows:   Appendix 1 - Stratford on Avon District Council formal response in relation to the proposal from Warwickshire County Council and Rugby Borough Council for one unitary council; and ·       Appendix 2 - Stratford on Avon District Council formal response in relation to the proposal from North Warwickshire Borough Council, Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council, Stratford-on-Avon District Council, Warwick District Council for 2 unitary councils. The Council has been invited to respond to the government consultation exercise in relation to proposals for local government reorganisation for Warwickshire. The period of consultation runs until 26 March 2026. The Council has the opportunity to respond to each of the proposals individually, the proposed responses are attached at Appendix 1 and Appendix 2.   The responses have been drafted in line with the Council’s decision on 17 November 2025. The resolution of Council as stated at Minute 333 - Local Government Reorganisation Proposals - Submission Document   is as follows: (1)   That Stratford-on-Avon District Council supports the two-unitary proposal for future local government within Warwickshire, made up as follows: North Warwickshire Unitary – based on the current borough council boundaries of North Warwickshire Borough Council, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and Rugby Borough Council; and South Warwickshire Unitary – based on the current district council boundaries of Stratford-on-Avon District Council and Warwick District Council   1.   To agree the proposed consultation responses attached at Appendix 1 and Appendix 2. 2.   To amend the proposed consultation responses attached at Appendix 1 and Appendix 2. 3.   To reject the proposed consultation responses attached at Appendix 1 and Appendix 2. 4.   To not respond to the consultation.
