Purpose: To request an extension of a services contract for the provision of Brent’s Family Wellbeing Centres Support Services with Barnardo Services Limited as required by Contract Standing Order 112.
Content: To request an extension of a services contract for the provision of Brent’s Family Wellbeing Centres Support Services with Barnardo Services Limited as required by Contract Standing Order 112. That the Corporate Director of Children, Young People and Community Development: i) Approves the extension provided for within the current contract for the provision of Brent’s Family Wellbeing Centres Support Services with Barnardo’s Services Limited for a period of eight (8) months until 30 November 2026. The Council entered into a contract on 1 December 2021 for the provision of Brent’s Family Wellbeing Centres Support Services for a period of three (3) years with an option to extend by yearly periods up to a maximum of 2 years (on a 3 + 1 + 1 basis) with Barnardo Services Limited. The Contract allowed the option for an extension in both 2024-2025 and 2025-2026, and for 2024-25 this extension was fully utilised. An option to take up a 4-month extension was invoked in December 2025, with enabled the option for the Council to take up a further extension for eight (8) months. The Contract is due to expire on 31 March 2026, and the Council wishes to extend the Contract for a further 8 months until 30 November 2026. The Contract provides support services that enhance the delivery model across six Family Wellbeing Centres, including providing creche provision, a volunteering programme, Family Support Assistants and Early Years Workers. The contract extension is necessary for continuity of delivery of family wellbeing support services in Brent’s Family Wellbeing Centres and officers consider extending the contract by a further 8 months will achieve best value for the Council. There are no current alternative options within the present life cycle of this contract. The Council is considering future options beyond 30 November 2026 when the contract expires, as there will be no further provision for contract extensions within the current contract. None.
