Purpose:

Content: To adopt the Scheme of Charges for 26/27 for Building Control Services built in accordance with Building Control Regulations and the national standard.   The Charges for Building Regulations work are required to cover the cost of the Building Regulation Service (but not the entire Building Control Service) with the exception of work which is carried out for the benefit of a disabled person where that work is charge exempt. There are two methods that the Authority may use to establish the charge for building work, either Standard Charges or Individually Determined Charges. To ensure the Councils’ apply robust and calculated fees and charges for Building Control Services in line with national regulations. To apply a standard rate for the services provided, which aren’t reflective of the Council’s resources implications and ability to perform said services. While this has been employed in recent years, the adoption of the Scheme of Charges for 26/27 formalises these fees and constitutes full compliance against the regulations.
