The chapel is utilised to house burial services within the cemetery and is the location for the Friends of Mansfield Cemetery events. Given the grade two listed status the necessary conservation advice has been sought and approved for the work to proceed. A current capital budget of £10,096 (Cemetery Capital Budget) is available with additional funds to cover the remaining cost being utilised from the Hermitage Walls and Footpaths Capital Budget, due to underspend. The works are required to preserve the integrity of the building and minimise further remedial works that could be required as a result of the required works not being completed. In addition to this, any delay in the works will result in further bat mitigation surveys which are costly and will increase to the project spend significantly. Bat roosting takes place between April and October and the current ecology license takes account of the works being carried out prior to bat roosting season.
