Purpose: 1.    To consider the comments received following the formal advertisement of a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO hereafter) proposing the introduction of a 30mph speed restriction on Stourton Lane (C55), Stourton.   2.    To recommend proceeding with the introduction of the TRO as advertised.  

Content: 1.    To consider the comments received following the formal advertisement of a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO hereafter) proposing the introduction of a 30mph speed restriction on Stourton Lane (C55), Stourton.   2.    To recommend proceeding with the introduction of the TRO as advertised.   INTENTION TO MAKE DECISION   Following consultation with officers I give notice that I intend to make the decision set out in the attached report If you would like to make any representations to me on this issue, please do so by 9 April 2026.     The Council’s proposals are supported by the elected Wiltshire Council Member, Stourton with Gasper Parish Council and the majority of correspondents who responded during the consultation period.   The proposals are in accordance with Priorities 2, 5 and 7 of the Council’s Business Plan. To:   (i)    Implement the proposed TRO as advertised.   (ii)  Amend the proposed TRO in consideration of the comments received   (iii)Abandon the proposals.   1.    Consultation has been undertaken with:   ·         The elected Wiltshire Council Member representing Stourton with Gasper   ·         Stourton with Gasper Parish Council through the statutory TRO consultation process   ·         Members of the Southwest Wiltshire Local Highways & Footways Improvement Group (LHFIG hereafter)   ·         Emergency services through the statutory TRO consultation process   ·         Members of the public through the statutory TRO consultation process   2.    A TRO proposing a new 30mph speed limit on Stourton Lane was formally advertised on 2nd October 2025. The Council's closing date for receipt of objections or other representations was 27th October 2025.   3.    During the formal TRO consultation period a total of 13 items of correspondence were received in response to the Council’s proposals. Of those 13 correspondents, 12 indicated that they supported the Council’s proposals, and one objected to them.   4.    The elected Wiltshire Council Member did not submit comments during the formal TRO consultation period but has indicated their support through the LHFIG process.
