Purpose: To update members on the progress of the emerging Wyre Local Plan

Content: Councillor Peter Le Marinel, Planning Policy and Economic Development Portfolio Holder and Steve Smith, Assistant Director of Planning and Building Control submitted a report to approve preparing a Local Plan under the new national system for plan-making and consider the new preparation timetable for the emerging Wyre Local Plan.   Councillor Le Marinel introduced the report and reiterated the rationale for transitioning to the new plan?making system. He explained why the option of continuing with the preparation of the Local Plan under the legacy system had been rejected, highlighting in particular the difficulties in meeting the required deadline for submission.   Decision   Cabinet agreed:   •                  To approve the preparation of the Wyre Local Plan under the new national system for plan-making.   •                  That authority be delegated to the Assistant Director of Planning and Building Control in consultation with the Planning Policy and Economic Development Portfolio Holder, to approve and publish the revised Local Plan timetable and any future updates.
