Purpose:
Content: To serve an Enforcement Notice regarding the unauthorised erection of a fence without planning permission adjacent to a highway used by vehicular traffic, the height of which exceeds 1 metre above ground level. The fence, due to its height, appearance and position to the front of the property, results in a dominant and visually intrusive form of development that is out of keeping with the low front boundary treatments characteristic of the street scene and fails to respect the prevailing character of the area or make a positive contribution to the local environment, resulting in a discordant addition to the street scene that severely detracts from the visual amenities of the locality. The fence is therefore contrary to Policy DM5 of the Worthing Local Plan and accordingly it is unlikely that planning permission could be granted and nor could planning conditions could not overcome the objections to the development.
