Content: The Area Committee has given approval to an application from the Friends of Shahnameh for Ward Flexibility Funding for a total grant of £350 (£140 from Bramhall North, £140 from Bramhall South & Woodford & £70 from Cheadle Hulme South allocations) towards the cost of celebrating 16 years of celebrating the annual ‘Commemoration Day of Ferdowsi’ (Ferdowsi is the author of Shahnameh - Book of Kings). At the annual event in May 2026 we are proposing running half a day festival / celebration for around 200 people with talks, music and Q&A sessions, reading poetry in English and Persian. Persian speaking communities of migrant and refugee background, people of all ages and abilities, people with children and young adults are example of community members likely to benefit from our event.
