Purpose: To enable the acceptance and use of the grant award. The grant will be used to purchase six properties to meet housing demand to support both the Afghan Resettlement Scheme and homelessness temporary accommodation provision.

Content: To enable the acceptance and use of the grant award. The grant will be used to purchase six properties to meet housing demand to support both the Afghan Resettlement Scheme and homelessness temporary accommodation provision. That the Executive Director (Place) in consultation with the Executive Director (Resources and Partnerships) and the Director (Family Help and Children’s Social Care) hereby:-   (a)      Notes the allocation of the Local Authority Housing Fund – Round 4 grant of £0.585m (£0.576m Capital and £0.009m Revenue) from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government as detailed in appendix 2 to Knowsley Council; (b)      Approves the delegation of authority to the Head of Housing and Property to finalise the terms of the agreement referenced in (a) above; (c)      Authorises the Head of Legal Services to prepare the necessary legal documentation to enable the transfer of grant to partner Registered Providers; and (d)      Authorises the Head of Legal Services to carry out all necessary searches and prepare the necessary legal documentation to purchase properties for temporary accommodation; (e)      Approves the inclusion of the Local Authority Housing Fund – Round 4 in the Housing and Property 2026/27 Capital Programme.   Not accept the grant funding – This was rejected because accessing the grant would enable six properties to be purchased to meet housing demand to support the Afghan Resettlement Scheme and demand for temporary accommodation to provide a long-term legacy of increased affordable housing provision.
