Purpose:

Content: Consideration was given to the approval of revised Corporate Guidance and Procedures under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000, updated to reflect non RIPA surveillance activity and minor administrative amendments. The report sought Cabinet approval to ensure investigations continue to be conducted lawfully and proportionately.   RESOLVED: i)                 Cabinet approved the amended Regulation of Investigatory Powers Corporate Guidance and Procedures as set out in Appendix 1.   The above decision was made for the following reason:   a)                 To ensure the Council has an up to date and accurate procedure to safeguard individuals and communities while avoiding unnecessary infringement of human rights.
