Purpose:

Content: Consideration was given to the adoption of Gateshead’s Community Cohesion Strategy 2026–2031, which sets out a borough-wide framework for strengthening community connections, reducing harm and tensions, promoting fair access to services, and supporting local leadership. The report sought Cabinet approval of the Strategy, taking account of public consultation findings and confirming a coordinated approach to improving community safety, inclusion and wellbeing across the borough.   RESOLVED: i)                 Cabinet approved the Community Cohesion Strategy 2026–2031 for implementation. ii)                Cabinet agreed that the Community Cohesion Group will oversee delivery, monitoring and reporting to the Safer Gateshead Partnership. iii)              Cabinet approved the development of a detailed action plan aligned with the Strategy’s five priorities.   The above decision was made for the following reasons: a)                 To establish a clear, evidence-based approach to building stronger, safer and more connected communities. b)                 To ensure coordinated delivery and strengthen community leadership and partnership.
