Purpose:

Content: Councillor Juned – Leader of the Council   Consideration was given to the allocation of funds from the Climate Change Reserve to the Community Climate Change and Nature Recovery Fund and the Wilder Communities Project.   In receiving the report, it was noted that funds for Round Four were being requested due to the recent successes of the first three rounds of the Community Climate Change and Nature Recovery Fund.   It was further noted that applications relating to the agreed sites and eligible for the Wilder Communities Project 2026/27 would be subject to consultation with the relevant organisations prior to approval by the Appraisal Group.   The options available to The Cabinet were:   1.   To approve the recommendations, as set out in the agenda report, with £200,000 allocated from the Climate Change Reserve to the Community Climate Change and Nature Recovery Fund; 2.   To recommend that the mechanisms for delivery be amended prior to £200,000 allocated from the Climate Change Reserve to the Community Climate Change and Nature Recovery Fund; 3.   To approve the allocation of £200,000 from the Climate Change Reserve to the budget for Round Four of the Community Climate Change and Nature Recovery Fund, but not approve the allocation of £22,500 to the Wilder Communities Project; 4.   To approve the allocation of £22,500 from the Climate Change Reserve to the budget for the Wilder Communities Project, but not approve the allocation of £200,000 to Round Four of the Community Climate Change and Nature Recovery Fund; or 5.   Not to approve the allocation of £200,000 from the Climate Change Reserve to the Community Climate Change and Nature Recovery Fund or £22,500 to the Wilder Communities Project.   Accordingly, it was   RESOLVED:   (1) That the Community Climate Change and Nature Recovery Fund be re-established for a Fourth Round;   (2) That a total budget of £200,000 be allocated from the Climate Change Reserve to the Community Climate Change and Nature Recovery Fund;   (3) That applications be appraised and approved using the process set out in the agenda report and that the application window be open for a period of twelve months, with funds distributed on a quarterly basis;   (4) That the Wilder Communities Project be re-established for the 2026/27 financial year, and that £22,500 be allocated to the Project from the Climate Change Reserve; and   (5) That the Deputy Chief Executive, in consultation with the Leader of the Council, continue to have delegated authority to approve projects funded by both programmes.   Note: This item is not subject to call-in to the OSC as it is not a key decision.
