Purpose:
Content: The Committee received a report which sought approval for Officers to commence a procurement exercise to purchase liquid fuels including HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil). The term of the contract would be 5 years at the approximate value detailed in the report. In May 2024 the majority of fleet transitioned to HVO to reduce carbon emission. The current contract expires on 30th September 2026. Renewing the contract would ensure continuity of service and no disruptions to current operational services for Refuse collections, Street Cleansing and Grounds Maintenance etc. The purchase of HVO aligned with the Climate Change Action Plan as this reduced tail pipe emissions by up to 90% in comparison to standard diesel. The proposed procurement directly supported the Council’s objectives and ongoing reduction of Scope 1 and 2 emissions. Resolved that: i) Approval be given for Officers to commence the procurement process to source a supplier to provide the Council with Liquid Fuel ii) A 5-year contract as detailed in the report be approved
Date of Decision: April 15, 2026
