Purpose:

Content: i)               To reconfirm that the mix of purposes for which the Council’s land at Teviot Avenue (the ‘Site’) have to date been held is no longer required; and ii)              To agree that the Site be appropriated for planning and development purposes pursuant to s122 Local Government Act 1972 [and ss227 and 246(1) Town and Country Planning Act 1990] with implementation to take place immediately; and iii)            Following completion of the housing redevelopment, that the site be appropriated pursuant to s122 LGA 1972 for the Council to hold for long term housing purposes under the Housing Act 1985; and iv)            Following the implementation of the appropriation of the site for planning purposes to exercise the Council’s s203 powers in relation to redevelopment of Teviot Avenue; and v)             To approve the Council, through its officers, continuing to enter into negotiations with relevant owners (whose rights will be affected) to make reasonable attempts to agree compensation packages with affected rights owners.
