Purpose:

Content: The Chairman of the Senior Management Selection Panel, Cllr C Whitbread, introduced a report recommending the appointment of Mr A Small as the Council’s Head of Paid Service on a permanent basis.   Cllr C Whitbread reported that, following an assessment process, the Senior Management Selection Panel had unanimously agreed that Mr. A Small, who was currently the Acting Head of Paid Service (Chief Executive), should be appointed to the permanent position of Head of Paid Service (Chief Executive). In accordance with the requirements of the Officer Employment Procedure Rules in the Constitution, the Executive had been notified of the proposed appointment and no objection was received to the making of the offer of appointment. By virtue of the requirements of the Local Authorities (Standing Orders) (England) Regulations 2001, the Council had to approve the appointment of the Head of Paid Service (Chief Executive) before an offer of appointment was made.   Resolved:   (1)        That the appointment of Mr. Andrew Small as Head of Paid Service (Chief Executive) of the Council be approved;   (2)        That authority be delegated to the Service Manager – People, to agree the terms of appointment and finalise the contract of employment;   (3)        That the appointment of Mrs Jennifer Gould to the role of Deputy Chief Executive be noted.
