Outcome: Recommendations Approved
Is Key Decision?: No
Is Callable In?: No
Purpose: The current stage floor was last renewed in 1997 and is badly in need of renewal given the wear and tear over the past three decades.
Content: Mansfield Palace Theatre replacement of stage floor Delegated Decision Ref: 26/09/HW 1. To seek approval to award a contract to Harold Adkin & Sons Ltd at a cost of £22,303.00 for the replacement of Mansfield Palace Theatre’s stage floor; and 2. The Legal Services Manager be authorised to negotiate, finalise and complete all necessary legal agreements and other documents to give effect to the above. The current stage floor at the theatre has been in place since the major renovation works carried out in the late 1990’s. Wear and tear of the stage means that this is no longer fit for purpose as areas are starting to split, crack etc and it has reached an age whereby it needs to be replaced rather than maintained. Three companies were approached for quotes. The selected contractor provided the most robust survey of the site in advance to identify the current stage floor materials and how best to replace this with the modern equivalent like for like materials. It is hoped that works will commence from 3rd August 2026 in line with the availability of the space and working within the confines of the theatre’s schedule. PPW Budget has been secured already to cover the cost of the works (this was carried over from last year when the theatre schedule made it impossible to fit the work in). Details of the successful contractor are included in the exempt appendix to this decision. The appendix is exempt under paragraph 3 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 as it contains commercially sensitive information. It is not in the public interest to release the information as to do so could jeopardise the procurement process. None – as per above, the theatre’s stage floor requires replacement.
Date of Decision: May 19, 2026
