Purpose: The Cabinet will be asked to adopt a Private Sector Housing Enforcement Policy, in line with the new legislative framework of the Renters’ Rights Act 2025.
Content: The Cabinet will be asked to adopt a Private Sector Housing Enforcement Policy, in line with the new legislative framework of the Renters’ Rights Act 2025. Resolved: That: 1. The approach to enforcement in the private housing sector, following the introduction of the Renters’ Rights Act 2025, by adopting the ‘Private Sector Housing Enforcement Policy’ as set out at Appendix A to Report number CAB/WS/26/023, be approved. 2. Minor amendments to the Corporate Enforcement Policy referencing the Private Sector Housing Enforcement Policy be approved and that it be included as an Appendix to the Corporate Enforcement Policy. 3. That a 12 month review be undertaken to understand the impact of the approach being taken through the Private Sector Housing Enforcement Policy and to be undertaken by the Director (Housing, Communities and Regulatory) in consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Environment and Regulatory and with the Portfolio Holder for Housing.
