Decision Maker: Executive Member (Economic Development and Public Service Reform)
Outcome:
Is Key Decision?: Yes
Is Callable In?: Yes
Purpose:
Content: Recommendations approved. Reasons for recommendations 1. To deliver the Council’s new Ackhurst depot. 2. The new depot site will be delivered in line with the latest Environmental Agency regulations allowing for a safer and more efficient delivery of operations. 3. To allow the land at the existing Council depot site located on Bengal Street to be released for a residential scheme planned as part of the wider Town Centre Improvements project. 4. To mitigate the risk of the capital funding secured through the UK government via the previously titled Levelling Up Fund. Other options considered and rejected 1. To not progress with entering into a main build contract with Cunard Construction. This has been rejected as this would not deliver on the objectives of the project and deliver the new Council depot site in line with programme timescales. 2. To progress the capital build with another contractor. This has been rejected as this process would have a significant impact on timescales and not necessarily delivery potential savings. This option would also impact on placing the external capital funding at risk which has been secured to deliver the Town Centre Improvement programme which includes the residential scheme at Bengal St Depot site.
