Decision Maker: Service Director - Culture & Visitor Economy
Outcome: Recommendations Approved
Is Key Decision?: No
Is Callable In?: No
Purpose: Decision taken to accept West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) funding of £200,003 and proceed with delivery of the Kirklees Seasons of Culture – Nature programme. Seasons of Culture is a strategic initiative led by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, building on the momentum of the region’s Years of Culture delivered between 2023 and 2025. WYCA has confirmed a pilot Seasons of Culture – Nature to be delivered in 2026. Kirklees’ participation ensures inclusion in a coordinated, region?wide cultural programme and enables delivery of activity that aligns with local cultural, environmental and place?based priorities. Alternative options considered included declining the funding and not participating in the pilot programme. This option was rejected as it would result in the loss of external funding and associated cultural, economic and reputational benefits for Kirklees, and would limit opportunities for regional collaboration and sector development.
