Purpose: Hilltop First School has requested that their nursery class be closed, with effect from September 2026. This is due to falling numbers making the nursery class financially unviable. Public consultation has been carried out and this paper will report on the outcome and request delegated authority to make a final decision once further statutory consultation (the 'representation period') has been carried out.

Content: AGREED: That Cabinet noted the report and: i)                 Considered the outcome of the public consultation, including the representations received as summarised in this report and provided at Appendix B. ii)               Approved, in principle, the request from the Governing Body of Hilltop First School that the nursery is closed on 31st August 2026. iii)             Authorised the Executive Director of Children’s Services and the Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Education and Windsor to publish a proposal to close the nursery class and to determine the proposal following the end of the representation period.
