Purpose: The Governing Body of Riverside Primary School has requested that the Resourced Provision at the school, for children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLNC) as a primary need, be closed with effect from September 2026. This is because the numbers are low, and provision no longer addresses the needs of local pupils. Children attending the provision will continue to receive the same level of support as at present until such time as they leave the school at the end of their Year 6. If approved, however, no new pupils will be admitted to the provision from 1st September 2026.

Content: AGREED: That Cabinet noted the report and: i)                 Considered the outcome of the public consultation, including the representations received as summarised in this report and provided at Appendix C. ii)               Approved, in principle, the request from the Governing Body of Riverside Primary School and Nursery that the Resourced Provision is closed on 31st August 2026. iii)             Authorised the Executive Director of Children’s Services and the Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Education and Windsor to publish a proposal to close the nursery class and to determine the proposal following the end of the representation period.
