Purpose: To seek Cabinet approval to consult on Thanet’s Housing, Homelessness and Rough Sleeper Strategy 2026-2030. This strategy is a core council strategic document which provides a unified framework for addressing the district's housing challenges. It aligns with the council's Corporate Plan 2024–2028, Local Plan 2020 and other relevant policies and strategies to guide decision-making and action. The strategy fulfils the statutory requirement for local housing authorities to adopt a strategic approach to preventing homelessness and meeting local housing needs.

Content: To seek Cabinet approval to consult on Thanet’s Housing, Homelessness and Rough Sleeper Strategy 2026-2030. This strategy is a core council strategic document which provides a unified framework for addressing the district's housing challenges. It aligns with the council's Corporate Plan 2024–2028, Local Plan 2020 and other relevant policies and strategies to guide decision-making and action. The strategy fulfils the statutory requirement for local housing authorities to adopt a strategic approach to preventing homelessness and meeting local housing needs. Cabinet agreed the following:   1.  To consult with residents, partners and stakeholders on the Housing, Homelessness and Rough Sleeper Strategy 2026-2030 for a six-week period. A period of public consultation is required for a policy framework document to ensure that the strategy accurately reflects and responds to the needs of residents and stakeholders. The previous strategy was published in 2020 and has reached the end of its lifetime. Feedback from Councillors is most welcome and will be formally considered by officers.
