Following NCP entering administration, the lease has been surrendered, and the Council has decided to operate this site as a public car park itself, as part of its existing Portman Road C car park. An Off-Street Parking Places Order has been formally advertised in accordance with the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 and the Local Authorities (Traffic Orders) Procedure (England and Wales) Regulations 1996. No objections have been received and as such as decision has now been taken to make the Order and open the car park. The Order will come into effect, and the car park will open on Tuesday 23rd June 2026. The main alternative would be not to make the Order but this then would leave the land unused.
