Purpose:

Content: The Director of Community Services submitted a report presenting the 2026/27 Climate Change Action Plan to Committee for approval and formal adoption.   The Climate Change Working Group had met on 26 March 2026 and considered and agreed a draft Action Plan for 2026/27, taking into account the actions arising from the Motion: Declaration of a Climate Emergency, for submission to Committee. The Plan was appended to the report for consideration.   Committee noted that the objectives, goals and actions within the Plan had been reviewed in light of the Motion, with the current position highlighted in the document. It also noted that budget preparation for 2026/27 was already underway, including approval of fees and charges and consideration of service budgets by service committees.   Subject to Committee approval, the Action Plan would inform service committees and Council, who would be responsible for implementation, having regard to all relevant financial, legal and regulatory considerations.   RESOLVED THAT COMMITTEE:   Approve the 2026/27 Climate Change Action Plan at Appendix 1 of the report for formal adoption.
