Purpose:

Content: Cabinet considered the report of the Assistant Chief Executive concerning refreshing the Council’s existing Annual Delivery Plan (attached at Appendix A). The report set out the key activity being undertaken against each of the six missions set out within the ‘Play your part in a stronger future’ Borough Plan 2024-2028, along with milestones for the current year.  It also set out the measures and targets that will be used to report on progress towards achieving the missions.   Cabinet Members were reminded that they had committed to developing and refreshing an Annual Delivery Plan which set out the major strategic actions and projects which will be delivered during that year to achieve against the borough’s missions, along with the measures of success and targets.  This was the second annual refresh of the Annual Delivery Plan and provided a clear, high-level overview of key existing change programmes, projects and ambitions, along with a framework for monitoring activity and delivery.   Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of the Council, led the discussion on the item as proposer and the item was seconded by Councillor Karen Shore, Cabinet Member for Transport and Highways (including Waste).   Cabinet Members welcomed the report and the refreshed Plan and acknowledged the vast amount of activity being undertaken to deliver against the missions in the Borough Plan. Members took the opportunity to highlight a number of positive areas of activity and future ambitions within their individual portfolios and thanked teams across the Council for their hard work and innovation to be able to deliver at pace with limited resources.   DECIDED:     That    the key activity and milestones, measures and targets set out in the annual delivery plan at Appendix A be approved.   Reason for Decision    1)            To provide a clear summary of the programme of activity which the Council will undertake over this financial year to help achieve the missions set out within the Borough Plan. 2)            To provide a clear framework of measures and targets that can be used to understand and monitor progress against those missions. 3)            To support regular performance reporting of activity and impact.   Alternative Options   There is no legal requirement on the Council to produce an Annual Delivery Plan. Cabinet could decide that the Council does not continue to develop this Plan, However, for the reasons set out in this report this is not recommended.
